The trim, elegant design parameters of the Eames Chaise were inspired by Hollywood director Billy Wilder's need for a compact office recliner to nap on between film takes.  Honoring their friend's request Charles and Ray Eames created the chaise in 1968 and gave the first production sample to Wilder.  The piece has been produced continuously by Herman Miller® ever since.
