Antony Chair
Jean Prouvé
Price: $1,310
Jean Prouvé is widely regarded
by design historians as one of the greatest furniture constructors
of the twentieth century, yet his work has never realized broad
exposure outside his native France.
Realizing the importance of Prouvé's work, the Vitra Design
Museum in Germany has reached an agreement with the Prouvé family
to reissue several of his most elegant designs.
The Antony Chair was developed in 1954 for the university campus
in Antony. It is one of the French master's most fluid and
graceful designs. The chair stands out by virtue of its simple
construction, which Prouvé articulated with strong, dynamic
forms.
