Josef Albers was mainly involved in furniture design during his time at
the Bauhaus in Weimar, Germany. For a short time, he served as
artistic director of the workshop and became an influential force in
reshaping furniture design for the modern era. The Vitra Design
Museum has re-issued the designer's Nesting Tables which
were originally created for the Moellenhof House in Berlin. They
combine clear geometric shapes with use of color derived from
Albers’ painterly oeuvre. On the underside, the table tops are
laquered turquoise, yellow, red, or blue.
